Also known as broad butts, projection hinges have a pivot point that is further away from the door face than a conventional butt type hinge, and are used for doors that have to clear obstacles such as architraves, or if the frame is set back with a deep reveal, and open to approx. 180°. The projection of the knuckle determines the angle to which the door will open.
Grade 13 Ball Bearing Hinge (Max Load 120kg over 3 hinges) in 3 Finishes. Ball bearing hinges have always been very popular for their smooth operation, durability, long lasting design and ability to carry heavier loads than washered hinges. They carry a CE mark and are Certifire tested. BS EN 1935 rated. This substantial premium hinge carries a 25 year mechanical guarantee. Suitable for standard internal residential doors a pair of hinges is adequate; however fitting 3 hinges per door has its advantages. It will look aesthetically pleasing and from a practical viewpoint it helps spread the load evenly and will help to overcome twisting or warping. This can sometimes happen to doors over a period of time where heat and moisture are a factor. Suitable for all domestic, commercial and industrial use.
If you are using these on a fire door, to fully comply with BS EN 1634 test requirements you will need to add 'Intumescent Pads' behind the hinge leaves to continue the protection along the perimiter of the door, the hinge pad rapidly expands to provide additional protection in the hinge area, insulating the heat transfer from hinge to the door and helping to maintain the door integrity. Coastal do not supply these pads but you can obtain them from this link if you so wish.
