LP400 LETTER PLATE – Outstanding Performance Delivering Best In Class Results

19th November 2018

When it comes to taking everything that mother nature can throw at it – our recently enhanced LP400 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel sleeved letter plate is best in class – proven against the new BS EN Air Permeability, Water Tightness and Wind Resistance tests.

Delivering classic styling with a contemporary twist, the LP400 is the only back-to-back sleeved letter plate with an anti-fishing flap, and an integrated brush and gasket weather seal system. Available in a number of finishes it is manufactured from corrosion-resistant 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel and is also Part Q compliant. But it’s in the latest extreme air, wind and water test results where the LP400 letter plate really shines, achieving the highest test results in each of the categories:

Test Element Classification Test method Result Class
Air Permeability BS EN 12207:2000 BS EN 1026:2000 600 Pa 4
Water Tightness BS EN 12208:2000 BS EN 1027:2000 600 Pa A9
Wind Resistance BS EN 12210:2001 BS EN 12211:2000 3000 Pa 5

What Do the Test Results Mean?

Air Permeability Test - BS EN 12207:2000 – measures the volume of air that passes through the letter plate at different pressures. Class 4 is the highest class and was successfully achieved by the LP400. Water Tightness Test - BS EN 12208:2000 – in this test, water is forced at the letter plate through water nozzles, to represent driving rain, at differing pressures for lengthening periods of time. The highest designated class is A9, which indicates the letter plate withstood 600 Pa of water pressure for 55 minutes without compromise. Wind Resistance Test - BS EN 12210:2001 – this tests at which point draughts can get through the letter plate. Class 5 is the highest classification which is achieved after withstanding 2000 Pa. The LP400 achieved 3000 Pa which is equivalent to a wind speed of approx. 152mph! Anything above a wind speed of 74mph is classed as a hurricane so the LP400 is well able to withstand anything the British weather can throw at it. Constructed without compromise, the new LP400 Sleeved Letter Plate features:

  • Improved integral brushes, gaskets and telescopic liner for excellent weather protection and to help reduce draughts
  • Extremely resistant to air, wind and water as proven from test results
  • Built-in inner security flap to help prevent ‘fishing’
  • Security Tested to PAS24 and manufactured to TS008 specifications
  • Back-to-back construction fixing method for strength
  • Made from 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel for superior resistance to corrosion
  • Lifetime guarantee for customer peace of mind
  • Reduces potential site call backs
  • Available in 4 finishes Super-Satin, Mirror Polished, PVD Brass and Oil Rubbed Bronze
  • Suitable for door thicknesses 44-68mm
