Designed for Joiners, Built for Performance: The LP400 Letter Plate

Would you rather have this letter plate?

Or this letter plate?

They both have one job: accept letters.

But you know how your customers would react if their brand new front door had a letter plate that looked like the first one within twelve months.

And who could blame them? They’ve spent out on a new front door and now an integral part of it is draughty, corroded and a potential security risk.

Quality matters

If you’re looking for a letter plate that matches the quality of your front doors – or if you’re experiencing call backs to jobs where the door furniture is rusting – you’re in the right place.

If you’re looking for a letter plate that matches the quality of your front doors – or if you’re experiencing call backs to jobs where the door furniture is rusting – you’re in the right place.

In today’s article, we’ll talk about why letter plates matter, but first a few ground rules:

  • The better quality your door, the better quality the door furniture should be
  • The letter plate needs to look good, do good, and last (good)
  • Your reputation is worth more than a letter plate.

Onwards...

Basic elements of a letter plate

Materials

You need to know what your letter plate is made from. A cheap chrome plated letter plate will rust, become pitted and corrode in no time.

Whilst one that’s made from 316 marine-grade stainless steel will never need to be replaced.

Design

Many old-fashioned letter boxes have a flap on the outside and one on the inside; with nothing in between but air.

No security, no weather sealing. These letter plates will rattle in the wind, and likely leak. They’re also easy to open from the outside, giving thieves an opportunity for a bit of key-fishing....

Instead, choose a letter plate that is sleeved. This creates a protective barrier between the elements (including would-be burglars) and the home.

And for bonus points, install a letter plate that includes multiple gaskets and a central brush for superior weather sealing.

If you can find one that’s achieved Best in Class in weather tests against air, wind and water, then add it to your favourites and stop searching.

(Note: You just have.)

Installation

You don’t have time to mess about fitting fiddly products with poor quality components and guides.

So look for a letter plate that comes with detailed instructions.

Stainless steel fixings and fittings designed to last as long as the letter plate are also a must.

Choice

Making things easy for your customers is an obvious win. They want to be able to choose a style of letter plate that fits their home, whether they’re after the modern vibe of brushed metal, the sleek lines of matt black or the traditional look of polished brass.

Quality

Whoever says “they don’t make things like they used to” has never handled one of Coastal’s LP400 letter plates.

We may be biased, but our in-house team builds the letter plates right here in Cornwall, checking every component before finishing by hand, resulting in a high end product.

The BLU LP400 also comes with a lifetime guarantee, so you don’t have to worry about customer call backs, corrosion, or draughts over time.

Coastal’s LP400 stainless steel sleeved letter plate

We worked on the LP400 for more than two years to make sure it was just right.

Unlike other letter plates, it’s made from solid stainless steel, tested to resist the harshest weather conditions, and super secure. With a built-in security flap, integral brushes and retainer brackets, it’s built to last, and has been successfully used in a PAS24 security test.

You only have to see and hold the LP400 to appreciate its quality.

  • Weighty feel of the stainless steel
  • Substantial mechanism of the spring-loaded flap
  • Robust construction
  • Sleek design.

Once you try the LP400, you’ll wonder why you ever settled for anything less.
