A common headache for our customers after machining for the multipoint lock on their door using a spindle moulder is the gap at the top of the lock faceplate. These gaps are vulnerable to rain and moisture entering the Euro Groove down behind the faceplate at the top of the door.

The water has nowhere else to go from here apart from down into the gearbox leading to a host of potential problems with performance and aesthetics caused by rusting.

This is especially prominent among Accoya timber as the water becomes trapped behind the multipoint lock faceplate, reacting with the Accoya and corroding the lock.

Protecting your door from water ingress.

Following feedback from our customers highlighting the water ingress issue we set our Research & Development Team to work on a solution - The Durodeen Euro Groove Infill Rail.

The Durodeen Infill Rail offers an innovative way to keep your door looking great whilst improving the performance and saving valuable time in the machining process.

This pre-machined infill rail can be quickly and easily cut to size and glued into the Euro Groove. To maintain consistency of the door aesthetic, the infill rail can be painted to the finished colour, making it indistinguishable from the door timber as you can see in the images and video.

Your worries of moisture and water ingress getting behind the lock and rusting the doors can be put at ease with this neat and tidy locking edge detail, especially useful for solving your problems with short door locks on longer doors. The added benefit of this solution being made from Durodeen ensures the infill will not shrink or move, keeping a clean finish.

Time saving on edge of door solution

Traditionally, in order to provide a solution to filling the gaps at the top of a door, manufacturers would have to machine a piece of custom timber to fit perfectly to prevent water ingress. Not only would this require a considerable level of skill, the process would be time consuming.

With Coastal’s solution, the Durodeen infill rail is ready to be lifted off the shelf and placed in the gap. It can be easily trimmed to fit the gap if necessary. This process is not only significantly quicker but also de-skills the process, with many organisations experiencing a variety of skill and experience levels a solution like this can be key in maintaining consistency of your finished door.
