Innovation in Motion: Coastal Group’s New Product Journey for 2025

Innovation in Motion: Coastal Group’s New Product Journey for 2025

This year has been an exciting one for Coastal Group, with a wave of innovative product launches making headlines.

From timeless classic door handles with new and improved backplates to three new lever designs, including the stylish Pera.

Another innovation is the new aluminium door handle range with slimmer back plates, engineered to prevent clashing while remaining practical and stylish.

The design team has also introduced a fresh take on the ring door knocker, demonstrating Coastal Group’s commitment to pushing design and engineering boundaries.

But behind every new product lies a journey – one that blends creativity, craftsmanship and collaboration.

The Product Journey

Every piece of door and window hardware begins life as a concept sketch, where ideas are captured and finalised by the research and development team. Under the management of Phillip Walklett, Design and Engineering Manager, and Michelle Garrett, Research and Development Coordinator, these sketches are developed into detailed CAD models before moving on to 3D-printed prototypes.

This stage allows the team to hold designs in hand, test ergonomics and visualise how the product will feel in real-world use.

It’s here that designs meets practicality, making sure that the beauty of the design is matched by comfort and usability.

Once prototypes are approved and signed off, the products undergo rigorous testing led by Design Engineering specialist Roger Phillips. From strength and durability checks to corrosion resistance trials, nothing is left to chance.

Every product must perform - not just in the showroom but also in the toughest environments, from coastal homes exposed to salt air to busy city spaces where durability is essential.

More Than Function

Coastal’s innovation doesn’t stop at function. Each product is designed to enhance the architectural experience - connecting people to love the spaces they live in.

Whether it’s the reassuring weight of a handle, the smooth glide of sliding door hardware, or the welcoming knock at a front door, these are everyday interactions that Coastal works hard to perfect.

Sustainability and longevity are also central to the process. By choosing materials such as 316 marine grade stainless steel, Coastal makes products that not only stand the test of time but also support more sustainable building practices.

Designs are created with both the environment and the end user in mind - durable enough to reduce replacement cycles, and timeless enough to remain good for years to come.

Designed for Architects, Installers, and Homeowners

For architects, hardware must match their vision. Every curve, angle, and finish is chosen to complement modern or traditional designs.

For installers and joiners, the focus is on precision and reliability. Products are designed to be practical and to fit, saving valuable time on-site.

For homeowners, hardware is about everyday interaction - the tactile moments of opening, closing, and experiencing their homes with ease and style.

Coastal creates products that don’t just fit a door or window - they fit into the bigger picture of design, usability, and lifestyle.

Looking Ahead

With more launches still to come this year - and with 2026 shaping up to be a landmark year for Coastal Group with more innovations in the pipeline - the future looks bright.

2026 developments are already in motion, with our research and development team exploring new designs and solutions for door and window hardware.

For Coastal Group, new product development isn’t just about creating hardware. It’s about connecting people with their homes - creating solutions that make the jobs of fabricators and joiners easier, while always delivering a coordinated look.

Coastal Group is set to continue shaping the future of architectural hardware, one innovation at a time.
