Coastal Group Launches Innovative New Range of Lever Handles

If you follow door trends, you’ll know that aluminium doors are more popular than ever. Homeowners and architects love them for their sleek, modern look – and that means slimmer frames are becoming the new standard.

But here’s the problem: as frames get narrower, so does the hardware. Many handles on the market simply don’t fit the profile, or they compromise on strength and quality. That’s why Coastal Group set out to design something new, and the result is the 096 slimline backplate.

The Idea Behind the 096

“We identified a clear gap in the market for a slimline, corrosion-resistant backplate that works with the latest door designs,” explains Loren Jenner, Managing Director at Coastal Group.

“It’s only 26mm wide, designed to fit even the narrowest aluminium door profiles. Like all the products in the BLU® Collection, it’s made from 316 marine grade stainless steel, so it stands up to high corrosion environments on the coast and in the city.”

Key Benefits of the 096 Slimline Backplate

• Slim Profile: Backplate is just 26mm wide, perfect for modern narrow aluminium frames.

• Built for Harsh Environments: Made from solid 316 marine grade stainless steel (including fixings) offering unbeatable corrosion resistance.

• Two Lever Styles: Choose from the sharp Kantel Angled Mitre or the soft, comfortable Ergonomic design.

• Premium Feel: Smooth spring action for a solid, premium feel

• No Frame Clash: Offset lever design makes it practical even on doors with tight clearances.

• Installer-Friendly: Decorative visible fixings for quick, simple installation

• Customer-Led Design: Every detail is based on feedback from fabricators and installers.

Two Styles, One Standard of Quality

The 096 backplate comes with a choice of lever handles:

Kantel AML096 Angled Mitre door lever handle modern, architectural styling with crisp angles and a confident, premium feel. Perfect for contemporary aluminium doors.

EGC096 Ergonomic door lever handle a smooth, gently curved lever that feels as good as it looks, offering a comfortable grip.

Designed with Installers in Mind

“From the outset, the design brief was to create a slim backplate without compromising on strength or functionality,” explains Phil Walklett, Design and Engineering Manager at Coastal Group. “We worked closely with our partners to ensure the new design not only looks great but also offers solid cast levers, a high-quality finish, and practical features that make things easy for installers.”

Phil continues: “We’ve included features like dual springs for a solid premium feel. The offset design prevents clashes with slim frames while the face-fix screws make installation quick and easy. It’s a handle designed to save time on site while still delivering performance.”

Built to Last - and Guaranteed for Life

Like every product in the BLU® range the 096 Slimline door lever handle is built to last, with a lifetime guarantee.

It’s part of a fully suited hardware range, so customers can achieve a coordinated look across their entire home.
