Will Deventer Weatherseal or Aquamac Q-lon provide the best compression for my doors and windows?
- Deventer Weatherseal will offer a much lower compression. This ensures the weatherseal works well in conjunction with the hardware, making the lock and handle much easier to operate. It also gives the homeowner a more comfortable feel when opening/closing their door/window.
- Aquamac Q-lon Weatherseal requires a much higher compression for the weatherseal to be effective. This makes it much harder to close and operate handle and lock.
Winner: Deventer Weatherseal
Which weatherseal is easier and quicker to install - Deventer Weatherseal or Aquamac Q-lon?
- Deventer Weatherseal is designed with a rigid back and a ‘universal foot’ to ensure quick mounting of the seal into the groove. It also removes a machining process helping to save valuable time during production.
- Aquamac Q-lon Weatherseal does not have the rigid back and the foot can be difficult to push into the groove as there is no flexibility on tolerance. It also requires an additional machining process making it take longer overall to install.
Winner: Deventer Weatherseal
Which weatherseal is more durable and will help improve the performance of my doors and windows?
- Deventer Weatherseal is made from high-grade TPE closed cell foam which cannot tear easily, and which does not stretch or absorb water.
- Aquamac Q-lon Weatherseal is made from a polyurethane foam core with a polyethylene film outer layer. This outer layer can become torn, exposing the inner foam core allowing water to be absorbed into the seal. This in turn leads to the gasket to fail and encourages mould to grow in the corners of the rebates.
