- Shimwell™ hinge packers are suitable for use with the blu HY3, HQ4 & HQ45 hinge variants, available in 316 stainless steel.
- Traditionally, a piece of cardboard (or worse) is used to pack behind the hinge when installing an external door or correcting a jamb that is out of alignment. However, materials such as cardboard compresses, causing the door to migrate, sag, and bind in the jamb.
- Shimwells™ are always installed by the joiner when initially fitting the door, they make it easy to adjust the door when the door swells and end the inconvenience of having to plane the door down to release the bind. Remove the hinge screws, and remove the 0.5mm, 1mm, or 2mm Shimwells™ to bring the door back into alignment.
- Each Shimwell™ moves the hinge pin in between 0.5–2.0mm and can be used in pairs to create a larger shim to suit more severe gaps, sold in pack sizes of 50.
- The 75x27mm packers are used with the HY3/HY3R window hinges, the 101x30mm packers are used with the HQ4/HQ4R/HQ45 door hinges.
