Coastal Group has launched a brand new letter plate: a new, slimmer design for classic and heritage-style doors that delivers the security, weatherproofing and build quality you'd expect from Coastal.

Why we made it

The LP430 was developed in response to customer feedback. Customers and homeowners love the original LP400 letter plate, making it one of Coastal’s best selling products.

But some wanted a more traditional proportion to suit narrower, period-appropriate doors.

A lot of classic front doors were never designed with a 110mm letter plate in mind, and customers didn't want to choose between style and substance.

So we listened, and our design team got to work on a letter plate that would sit comfortably on a traditional door without losing any of the reliability built into the rest of our range.

Managing Director Loren Jenner explains: "We're a manufacturer that listens. Customers kept telling us they loved the LP400 but needed something slimmer for more classic door styles, so that's exactly what we built. The LP430 carries the same testing, the same materials and the same guarantee as the rest of the range – it’s just better suited to more traditional and heritage doors."

What's different?

The headline change is height: the LP430 measures 100mm, compared to the LP400's 110mm.

“It's a small difference on paper,” explained Coastal Group’s Design & Engineering Manager, Phil Walklett, “but for some customers it makes a big difference. Some found it fowled with their moulding and it was too tall to fit their mid rails, but this new version sits perfectly on their front doors - slimmer, more in proportion, and better suited to that classic look. Everything else has been carried over from the LP400's proven design, so you're not trading performance for looks.”

Same trusted performance, slimmer profile

The LP430 has been put through the same rigorous testing as the rest of Coastal’s BLU range:

•'Best in Class' results in BS6375-1 weatherproof testing, covering air, wind and water resistance

• Successfully used in a PAS24 security test

• Manufactured to the TS 008:2022 standard for letter plate security

• Integral gaskets, brushes and a telescopic liner, so draughts and weather stay outside where they belong

Security that goes beyond the basics

A letter plate is a hole in your front door, so security matters. The LP430 includes extra retainer brackets to help prevent the plate from bowing or being prised off, plus a built-in inner security flap designed to help prevent letterbox 'fishing' (a known method burglars use to try to hook keys or valuables through a letterbox).

Built to last, wherever you live

Like the rest of Coastal’s range, the LP430 is made in the UK from 316 grade stainless steel, chosen for its durability and strength.

It's particularly well suited to environments where corrosion is a concern, such as by the sea and in high pollution environments. It even performs well where timber doors have higher acidity such as Accoya.
